Korn Ferry’s CEO, Gary Burnison, has been shaping the direction of the management consulting firm for more than a decade and, although his day-to-day operations may be focussed on the company’s industry-wide advancements, he may be viewed by some as a guru on all things recruitment.
Burnison extolled the essential importance of maintaining a strong personal network of professional contacts within an industry over the content of a CV in a recent interview with the Society for Human Resource Management.
He added that candidates are often far too reliant on their CVs to bag themselves a job and frequently overlook the importance of decent contacts networks to help them proceed with their application.
“Jobseekers assume that their resume accounts for 90% of getting a new job when it's only about ten per cent."
