A Lancashire worker has been fined and ordered to pay compensation after he was caught red-handed stealing stock from the store where he worked – Lancashire Telegraph reports.
Staff at for Michael Davies Associates Ltd noticed that a total of 15 projectors, each worth £200, had gone missing. The firm carried out an investigation and caught Blackburn resident Michael Nuttall on CCTV leaving with two large bags containing projectors.
When confronted, Nuttall immediately handed in his resignation, and later pleaded guilty in court to theft. He was fined £700 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £800 compensation.

Ben Leech, defending, said Nuttall had been in significant debt when he decided to steal. “Other people at the firm had been talking about taking things and lax security and he was swept away by this idea,” he said. “There was nothing sophisticated about these offences and as soon as he was challenged he offered his resignation,” said Mr Leech.
