Google employee found dead highlights need for HR support

A 22-year-old Google employee was found dead whilst at work on Friday – timesunion reports.

Scott Krulcik was found on the sixth floor of his employer’s office in Chelsea, New York, at about 9pm. Police stated that his death is not being treated as suspicious, but that he did not have a history of medical conditions or substance abuse problems. Google has not commented on the situation so far.

While this death is currently unexplained, Google is not the only firm to have experienced the sudden passing of a young employee. In 2013, Moritz Erhardt, 21, died during a seven-week placement with the Bank of America Merrill Lynch – with many news sources reporting on his gruelling work schedule that saw him arriving home in the early hours in an effort to impress bosses.

When an employee passes away, it is important for HR to provide an appropriate level of support for colleagues.
