HoF and Sports Direct boss claims staff 'love' zero-hour contracts

The boss of Sports Direct and House of Fraser, Mike Ashley, has claimed his workers “love” working on zero-hours contracts, the Guardian reports.

Such contracts - which do not guarantee a worker any hours at all - have faced serious criticism from politicians and trade unions who argue workers are forced to deal with an unpredictable workflow and wages.

However, speaking in front of the Housing, Communities and Local Government (HCLG) Committee, Ashley insisted that “the vast majority of staff love them,” although he added he did not plan to roll them out more heavily at House of Fraser.
