Minister for Disabled People: 'Rec industry is crucial'

The Minister for Disabled People has recently laid out the ‘critical’ role that recruiters have to play in helping the Government achieve its target of getting one million more disabled people into work.

The minister, Sarah Newton MP for Truro and Falmouth, was speaking at a House of Commons and Recruitment Industry Disability Initiative (RIDI) held to discuss ways in which more disabled people could enter work.

Kate Headley, Chair of RIDI, explained that despite recent improvements in the hiring of disabled people continued efforts are needed.

She said: “To date, RIDI has touched the lives of 500,000 individuals through direct hiring and the recruitment industry. However, there is no doubt that we still have a long way to go to achieve true disability inclusion.”
