The billionaire boss of betting firm Bet365 has come under fire after she gave herself a £265million bonus in 2017 – the Guardian reports.
Denise Coates’s package, which equates to £726,000 a day, overshadows her 2016 bonus of £217million – a previous UK record.
The Guardian reports that this figure is more than 9,500 times the average UK salary and 1,700 times that collected by the Prime Minister. The total pay to Bet365’s directors and “key management personnel” was £449million, up from £322million a year earlier.
In Bet365’s accounts, she said: “I am pleased to report that the group continued to experience significant growth during the period, with overall revenue and operating profit increasing year-on-year by 25% to £2.9billion and 31% to £660million, respectively.”
