UK firms considering microchipping thousands of employees

Hundreds of thousands of UK employees could be affected by the plans of some firms to microchip their employees in bid to stop them accessing sensitive areas – The Week reports.

The firm behind the chips claim it is in talks with a number of UK legal and financial firms – with potential employee numbers to be affected in the “hundreds of thousands”.

The microchips - which are about the size of a grain of sand - are injected into the fleshy area between the thumb and forefinger.

Jowan Osterlund, Founder of the firm Biohax, who make the implants, says the chips can help increase efficiency – speeding up entering buildings or accessing printers.
