New research from LinkedIn has found that 56% of employers believe that they are missing out on top talent due to existing weight discrimination.
Despite this, the overall findings have suggested that these attitudes are shifting over time with 68% of employers believing that discrimination has either decreased or stayed the same over the last five years.
And, the research revealed that employers are more comfortable hiring a candidate that is deemed to be 'overweight' compared to someone who wears too casual clothing (38%), has brightly dyed hair (28%) or visible tattoos (23%).

Ngaire Moyes, a LinkedIn spokesperson, says that there have been numerous overarching discussions amongst the LinkedIn community and the mass media around the stigmas attached to weight.
