Diversity | BBC reveal plans to hire more disabled people

The BBC have unveiled plans to increase their targets for disabled candidates from eight per cent in 2020 to 12% in 2022 – The Irish News reports.

The broadcasting behemoth will introduce numerous changes after recommendations were put forward by their existing staff and the BBC’s Ability network, which supports employees with disabilities.

The BBC say that these changes will ensure that recruitment processes, for all levels of job, provide the appropriate support for disabled candidates. Additionally, they will introduce a centralised “BBC Passport” to inform managers about the individual needs of employees, as well as disability awareness training for all line managers.
