The number of working days lost to strikes in private firms hit a 20-year high of 346,000 in the last year, Metro reports.
The research conducted by commercial law firm EMW revealed that the total more than doubled from 144,000 over the past 12 months.
Last week the Financial Times reported a fresh wave of strikes on South Western Railway’s which are set to take place in November this year.
Train guards working for the service have announced five days’ worth of scheduled strikes in response to ongoing disputes with the train operators about the uncertainty of the future of their jobs.
