HR in the dark about cyber security attacks

Out of all business departments, HR is one of the least likely to know if their company has suffered a cyber security breach in the last year.

That’s according to research from Switchfast Technologies, who polled smaller business and found that only 20% of HR professionals knew if their firm had or had not been breached in the past year. Only finance and accounting scored worse, at 19%.

And it seems many firms are ignorant to the risks, with 51% of leaders and 35% of employees assuming their firm is too small to be attacked. However, the damage can be massive, as 60% of small businesses that suffer a breach are likely to go out of business within six months.
