One in 10 British companies use suppliers that are failing to pay the minimum wage, according to a survey by the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).
The study revealed that a fifth of British companies have used suppliers who are either paying their staff late or at illegally low rates.
Tess Lanning, Director of the Living Wage Foundation, who spoke exclusively to HR Grapevine, explained this was a worrying trend.
She said: “All companies must comply with the law, but even for those that are earning the government minimum, many find it’s not enough to make ends meet.
