Employee dismissed after speedboat ordeal wins case

An Irish worker has been awarded €889 (£797.99) after his bosses subjected him to an aggressive grilling on a speedboat over missing money.

BreakingNews.ie reports that the unnamed employee worked for an amusement company when €10,000 (£8976.25) went missing.

As a result, he says his bosses took him 2.6 miles from the shore in a speedboat, where he was questioned for an hour by the Company Director, his Line Manager and a business associate in an ordeal he described as frightening.

He told the Workplace Relations Commission he was exposed to physical and mental stress, verbal abuse, and was warned that he wouldn’t be able to swim back to the shore because the water was too cold.
