Office workers spend less time outdoors than prisoners

The majority of office workers in the UK spend less time outdoors than prisoners, with around 35% spending less than 15 minutes outside each day.

This is lower than the requirement for prisoners, who need at least one hour of outdoor exposure each day, according to UN guidelines.

However, new research from Amibus, who surveyed both UK and US office workers, has found that just 13% spend a maximum of 30 minutes outside, whilst just over a quarter (26%) spend more than an hour outside.

Concerningly, this is a growing trend. Research from the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science has found that people spend 25% less time out amongst nature as compared to just 20 years ago.
