Aldi are the company with the most transparent pay process as voted by their own employees, according to analysis from Payscale.
The researchers found that 85% of Aldi staff said that pay transparency at their firm was high, compared with 70% from McKinsey and Company and 70% from Sanderson Farms, who make up the top three.
Payscale noted that restaurants and grocers dominated the top ten. Both industries have profit margins which are relatively thin, which suggests that transparency may be a distinct advantage in these highly competitive industries.
PayScale VP Lydia Frank explained that many firms are recognising the benefits of pay transparency. “People are more likely to trust their employer if it’s clear how and why they are paid the compensation they earn,” she said. “There really is no downside to sharing your organization’s approach to compensation, but there is a well-researched downside to remaining silent.
