Sergio Marchionne, who served as the Chief Executive of carmaker Fiat Chrysler, died yesterday in a hospital in Zurich aged 66.
He was replaced four days ago by the Head of the Italian-American firm’s Jeep division, Briton Mike Manley, after his health worsened following surgery complications on his right shoulder.
Jason Schloetzer, a Professor at Georgetown University who studies CEO succession commented on the recent announcement of Machionne’s post-surgery complications in The Washington Post.
“The fact that they talked about complications from surgery suggests more information than shareholders would have gotten in the past.”
