Is it possible that the scent of something alone can boost productivity levels? According to a new study, published in the Journal of Environmental Psychology, it is.
A new study, into the effects surrounding the aroma of coffee, found that the smell alone can sharpen the brain and increase productivity levels.
Researchers administered a 10-question algebra test in a computer lab to around 100 undergraduate business students, revealing that the smell of coffee alone helped students perform better on the analytical portion of the Graduate Management Aptitude Test.
It also found that the smell increased the participants’ expectations that they would perform better on the test.
