HR's Brexit inertia revealed as David Davis resigns

HR departments are still failing to take any action as Brexit approaches, even as the Government seems a step closer to agreeing on a ‘Brexit blueprint’.

Research from the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has found that nearly half of those in the industry expect the recruitment of skilled workers to become more difficult over the next two years, yet less than a third has done anything to prepare for the split from the EU.

Furthermore, one in three construction employers are now feeling the impact of Brexit, up nine per cent from last year – suggesting more and more firms are likely to be affected as the deadline draws closer.

“UK businesses are going through a period of enormous change,” explained Jeff Phipps from ADP. “Alongside the continued drive for digital transformation and the introduction of new technologies, there have been significant changes in the political landscape, such as Brexit. Change management has become the new normal for employers, yet employees are still struggling to keep up.
