Employees demand Microsoft stop work with US border force

More than 100 Microsoft employees have signed a letter demanding their firm stops working with US Border Patrol – the New York Times reports.

The letter is in response to the USA’s strict immigration policies that have resulted in migrant families at the US-Mexico border being separated from each other. US immigration officials say 2,342 children were separated from 2,206 parents between May and June this year.

“We believe that Microsoft must take an ethical stand, and put children and families above profits,” the letter reads.

“Therefore, we ask that Microsoft cancel its contracts with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) immediately, including contracts with clients who support ICE."
