SACKED: Volunteers axed over X-rated workplace mug

Two Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) volunteers have lost their appeal to be reinstated to their roles at Whitby station after a row over a sexually explicit mug.

The charity said that after a "fair and robust investigation and appeal process," the pair will not return to the North Yorkshire base.

Joe Winspear, one of the sacked volunteers, said the decision was "heart-breaking" on the Police Hour website.

Ben Laws, the other volunteer who was let go, told the Telegraph that he and Winspear had "borne the brunt of a witch hunt."
