Could AI eradicate 'gendered language' in job ads?

Could artificial intelligence (AI) help employers to remove gendered language from job ads?

According to research from Totaljobs, gendered language in job adverts can subtly reinforce stereotypes, putting off applicants in the process.

For example, words such as ‘support’ and ‘understanding’ lean towards female-bias, whereas men are more likely to respond to adverts with words such as ‘active’, ‘logic’ or ‘headstrong’.

However, there are technology companies working to eradicate these hidden biases by creating software that highlights terms that come across as particularly masculine or feminine and suggesting alternatives – the BBC reports.
