Top firm bans all-male shortlists to boost women's opportunities

In the aftermath of the gender pay gap reporting deadline, many firms are contemplating the ways in which they can encourage better representation of women at the tops of their firm.

One firm, financial services giant PwC, has decided to attack the problem at the hiring stage. The Daily Mail reports that the company is planning to ban all-male shortlists for jobs based in the UK in an attempt to secure more top positions for women.

Laura Hinton, PwC's Chief People Officer, said she wanted to make sure that "everybody in the firm" had access to important career opportunities such as working on big projects or for well-known clients, and that it would be "a real game changer."

“Diversity in our recruitment processes is something we’ve been focused on for some time and as part of this we are ensuring we have no all-male shortlists and more diverse interviewing panels,” she said.
