The pay gap between younger and older workers has increased by 50% in the last 20 years, according to a new TUC report.
The Trades Union Congress (TUC) said the generational pay gap between over- and under-30s has grown from 14.5% in 1998 to 21.9% in 2017.
In real terms, the gap has increased from £3,140 in 1998 to £5,884 in 2017 for someone working a 40-hour week – The Guardian reports.
“We’re creating a lost generation of younger workers," said Frances O’Grady, General Secretary of the TUC. "Too many young people are stuck in low-paid, insecure jobs, with little opportunity to get on in life.
