Is the Millennial quest for meaningful work self-indulgent?

The Millennial struggle is a well-documented, much-debated and polarising topic.

With 20-somethings feeling at loss with the world, gaining labels such as ‘generation rent’ (finger points towards the housing crisis) as well as receiving criticisms for an unwillingness to save for a security once yearned for by older generations, many have begun to deal with their situation creatively.

That includes taking ownership of their careers. As the term ‘job for life’ is fast becoming archaic - with a recent report by LinkedIn suggesting that Millennials will change roles on average every 2.5 years - many are ditching the corporate ladder and are going it alone.

However, a recent Daily Mail think-piece has questioned whether these actions are brave or self-indulgent.
