Starbucks' £9m 'racism' training criticised by staff

US-based Starbucks employees have had a mixed reaction to their ‘unconscious bias’ training – despite a documentary maker and a famous rapper taking part in the education programme.

The famous chain closed over 8000 US-based outlets to train 175,000 staff in response to public outcry after an employee called the police on two black men in one of the coffee-seller’s stores.

It is touted that the cost of closing their stores on Tuesday afternoon cost the worldwide businesscirca $12million (£9million).

One employee, speaking to TIME magazine, initially said she was confused about the training efforts telling the media outlet that “I was angry we had to educate people on how to not be racist.”
