Female employee tied-up after challenging workplace sexism

An employee who spoke out against sexism and racism at work claims she was taped to a chair and gagged by two male colleagues as a warning to keep quiet.

She claims that the incident took place in 2010, the direct result of her blowing the whistle on a threatening and misogynistic culture at a Marine Scotland office.

Taking her case to an employment tribunal, the worker said that one of the men involved told her: “This is what you get when you speak out against the boys.”

Rhoda Grant, a Labour MSP for the Highlands and Islands, who has been supporting the employee since 2010, told the BBC:
