Crown Workforce Management Systems has chosen Macmillan Cancer Support as its chosen charity for its 30th anniversary year.
It is the first time that the company, which is based in Tamworth, has formally selected a ‘charity of the year’ for which to raise funds.
Last year, a number of staff undertook fundraising feats in support of Cure Leukaemia and the company got behind their efforts by donating money for contribution to a customer survey. In total their combined efforts amounted to £2,500.
Sue Brandon, Crown’s marketing and events co-ordinator, said that raising money for charity had been a unifying experience for the 70-strong workforce and this year they had decided to select a charity which they could all get behind.
Said Sue: “We started the year with a company Kick Off, an away day in Solihull, where we were joined by our families for a combined event of business and leisure including a dinner and overnight hotel stay.
“It gave us the opportunity to look back on the successes of last year and plan for the next. Leading up to the event, we had asked colleagues to nominate a good cause for our charity of the year and had an amazing response. We then asked everyone to vote on the selection and Macmillan was a clear winner.
“We are now looking forward to planning some joint fundraising activities and some individual endeavours and apply a concerted effort to raising cash for a very worthy cause.”
Pauline Lewis, regional fundraising manager for Macmillan Cancer Support in Staffordshire, said: “We are thrilled that Crown Computing Limited has chosen Macmillan as its charity of the year. By partnering with Macmillan, Crown will help fund our vital cancer services. Macmillan is there for anyone affected by cancer. In 2015, over 5.8 million people received our medical, financial, emotional and practical support. Without donations and fundraising we would be unable to achieve this. We are so excited about working with Crown to reach more people in need and ensure no one faces cancer alone.”
