Levi Strauss & Co CEO: Why you need to work out

Health and wellbeing is only going to become a bigger priority for businesses this year, so much so that the topic came up at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland – the BBC reports.

Chip Bergh, President and Chief Executive Officer at Levi Strauss & Co, is a self-obsessed triathlon nut who exercises for at least an hour and a half a day. He tells the BBC that he “firmly believe[s] it plays a part in performance”.  

Bergh attributes his regime to Levi’s renaissance: “I really do firmly believe it plays a part in performance. For me personally when I'm healthy and exercising, eating right and getting enough rest, I'm much more productive at work." 

As a result, he set up a ‘Live wellth’ initiative at the 163-year-old company. This includes reduced gym memberships and a café, based at their headquarters in San Francisco, USA, that eschews non-nutritional food.
