Royal College of Surgeons urges employees to make THIS their New Year's resolution

Professor Nigel Hunt, Head of the Department of Orthodontics at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute and Dean of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, has called for employees to make a New Year’s resolution to “combat cake culture” as it is currently adding to obesity and contributing to poor oral health.  

Instead, firms should provide alternatives such as fruit and nuts and make these options more available and visible than their sugary counterparts.

"Managers want to reward staff for their efforts, colleagues want to celebrate special occasions and workers want to bring back a gift from their holidays,” he says.

"While these sweet treats might be well meaning, they are also contributing to the current obesity epidemic and poor oral health.
