Interview the interviewer: ISG's Group HR Director, Debbie Moore

With 2017 around the corner, employees will be considering taking up something new, whether that’s a hobby, the gym or a new job.

One way to retain vital talent is to ensure that opportunities to both learn and progress are part and parcel of an organisation; otherwise, you run the risk of losing and having to replace an employee, which can cost an average of £30,614, Oxford Economics and income protection providers Unum calculated in 2014.

To prevent this and identify hidden talent that can instead fill an internal vacancy, we spoke to Debbie Moore, Group HR Director at ISG, a construction services company.

She tells us: “Engaged, motivated and talented employees are a company like ISG's most important asset. We feel a strong sense of responsibility to identify specific talents and those employees with future potential to progress within our 2,800 strong network. Identifying this talent is only the first part, the crux of the challenge is then encouraging and empowering these individuals to act as valued advocates for the company and to help them realise their potential.
