HR takes more genuine sick days (4.3) and sick days due to unhappiness (3.1) than any other profession, according to research by Service Partner One.
They found that money isn’t the problem; those with a salary between £65,001 to £75,000 (more than double the national average) were the unhappiest, while those earning £25,000 or lower were among the happiest.
The findings also uncovered that company size may be an issue too; those working in firms with more than 500 employees were the unhappiest, compared to the happiest – those working in a business with one to nine members of staff.
The importance of a happy workplace should not be underestimated either - 90% of the British workforce would prefer a happy office environment rather than an extra days holiday.
