HR Grapevine Advent Calendar: Christmas bonuses should be given to junior workers - not bosses

Businesses should dish out Christmas bonuses to junior workers – not to the company bosses or directors, according to research.

700,000 UK businesses plan to pay out a Christmas bonus this year. However, almost half (48%) will exclude their more junior employees.

But bonuses appear to boost junior staff morale the most, a study of 1,000 UK companies by the Prepaid International Forum found. The productivity of 88% of workers under the age of 34 was boosted by an extra remuneration package.

But, only 59% of workers over 55 increased their output.
