With the pressures of deadlines, being ill-prepared for Christmas and the feeling of just needing a break as the year closes looming in the workplace - tensions are likely to arise.

In fact, recent figures suggest that 70 million days are lost from work every year in the UK to Stress, and in the last 6 years, the number of working days lost to stress, depression and anxiety has increased by 24%.

When people are stressed, it can lead to feelings of bitterness and resentment as we find others to blame for our workloads, leading to breakdowns in communication and an inability to resolve issues. When colleagues start to bicker, HR usually gets involved, which leads to mediation meetings, which leads to drain on resources.

Rather than letting the domino effect of stress take its toll which can cause workplace drama  - there are more proactive ways to help employees before work becomes more like walking into an episode of EastEnders than The Office.
