Jay-Z's TIDAL sued by ex-employee over breastfeeding

A former TIDAL employee is suing the company for sex discrimination and unfair dismissal after a breastfeeding dispute.

According to the complaint, obtained by Pitchfork, Lisette Paulson was fired the day after she requested arrangements to be made for her to use a breast pump in a private room.

The request was denied by Chief Operating Officer, Deiree Perez – the company’s highest-ranking female executive. Instead she suggested Paulson use a bathroom, a violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act and New York state labour laws.

TIDAL is the first artist-owned music streaming service, and is headed by rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z.
