British Boardrooms at the UK’s largest firms are failing to promote sufficient numbers of people from ethnic minorities to senior positions, a review has found.
The report led by Sir John Parker, Chairman of mining company, Anglo American concludes that every company listed on the FTSE 100 should have at least one non-white director by 2021. For FTSE 250 companies, the deadline should be 2024.
Currently, only nine non-white people hold the top positions of Chair or Chief Executive.
The proportion of non-white people on UK FTSE 100 Boards stands at about eight per cent, compared to 14% of the overall population in the UK – The Guardian reports.
