Should CEO bonuses be linked to staff mental health?

A former politician is urging businesses to link their CEO bonuses to the mental wellbeing of their staff body.

Jeff Kennett, former Leader of the Australian state of Victoria, has called for performance rewards to be partially tied to employee mental health, according to The Australian.

Kennet is also the Chairman of non-profit organisation Beyondblue, which helps business address issues such as depression, anxiety disorders, and related mental disorders.

Kennet explains his viewpoint to The Australian: “What I would like to see in every head of department of a bureaucracy, in every CEO’s performance, and every direct ­report’s KPIs, is a KPI about the mental health, the wellbeing, of their workforce, of those that ­report to them.
