A former Google employee has revealed the reason why she told the tech giant that she would be ready to leave the firm in two years.
Liz Wessel, an Associate Product Marketing Manager, told her interviewer before she accepted the role that she already planned to hand in her notice in two years.
She told CNBC: “I said to the recruiter, 'I definitely love Google, but at the end of the day, I can safely say that Google is a place I want to be for the next two years. After that, I'll probably leave and start a company of my own.'”
She asked the recruiter whether or not this would mean she would be burning any bridges, to which they replied she wouldn’t – and listed a number of entrepreneurs who had entered the same programme she had and gone on to succeed.
