'Sadistic' app parodying work-life balance goes viral

An app which encourages users to balance their work-life balance has become something of a viral sensation – due in the most part to its crude graphics and dystopian overtones.

Don’t Get Fired is an online game whereby you manage your work-life balance and ultimately fail. The app shows a line of bobbing employees sat at their identical desks, tapping at their keyboards, and listening to the traffic outside.

The gamer is never actually told what kind of work they are completing – instead being faced a monotonous onslaught of tasks all the while trying to not get fired.

The New Yorker reports that one Reddit user wrote online: “I don’t need to play this game, I’m living it.”
