So the other week, two of my team excitedly gathered their things together to go out on their lunch break and the chatter in the office reached fever pitch almost instantly. I couldn’t help myself and had to ask, ‘So, what’s occurring?’
To my utter dismay, I was told that these two highly qualified HR professionals were off to find Pokémon. They both have a Master’s degree in HR and one of them specialises in organisational development.
I was then told (by two very giddy HRBP’s) that they were heading to a specific location in the city which they believed would prove fruitful. I noticed that they were armed only with their smartphones and some sushi, the use for which I had no idea - do Pokémon even like sushi?
Now I’m not ever going to be accused of spoiling anyone’s fun. I mean seriously, it’s all right to have a bit of fun during your working week. In fact there have been plenty of studies showing a clear link between production, performance and a positive state of mind.
