Former Barclays executive challenges attempt to ban him from City

A former Executive at Barclays is challenging an attempt to ban him from working in senior posts in financial services.

Andrew Tinney, the former Chief Operating Officer of Barclays Wealth and Investment in New York until 2012, censored a critical report on his team’s ‘high risk’ culture – The Telegraph reports.

The dispute led to the decision by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to prevent him from working in the City.

The internal review of the Barclays Wealth’s corporate culture, by the consultancy Genesis Ventures, found that the division “had pursued a course of revenue at all costs and had a culture that was high risk and actively hostile to compliance” and recommended that some of the several senior staff should lose their jobs, according to the FCA.
