After much trepidation from the HR world, it seems that the six-hour work day didn’t meet expectations.
That’s according to a year-long trial which took place in Sweden in a retirement home. Business Insider Nordic reports that nurses worked six-hour days on an eight-hour salary over the course of 12 months. However, the results were not what was hoped for.
Sick days did not decrease over the year, but actually rose from eight per cent to 9.3%, according to Sundsvalls Tidnig. However, results at another nursing home in Sweden found that staff were healthier, happier and less likely to call in sick during the trial.
From this, Business Insider Nordic hypothesises that HR cannot apply the one blanket rule to all workplaces – and instead more research needs to be done on the topic.
