Irish police blasted for sexist 'male eye candy' recruitment campaign

A men’s rights group has asked to speak with the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) to discuss what they have described as ‘exploiting’ a Superintendent, who was dubbed ‘eye candy’ in a recruitment campaign.

Men’s Aid Northern Ireland has questioned whether the recruitment drive intends to attract candidates to join PSNI or dating app Plenty of Fish.

The campaign uses images of Detective Superintendent Bobby Singleton with the tagline ‘How you doing?’ and suggests that women should join the force so they can "run into him".

Singleton became an internet sensation after the campaign was posted on the PSNI’s Facebook page, and was branded by female followers as #officerhotstuff, receiving comments from fans including: "He can arrest me any day" and "That's the best looking policeman I've ever seen" – The Belfast Telegraph reports.
