David Cameron gave 'special advisers' 24% pay rise before resignation

David Cameron’s ‘special advisers’ received pay rises mere months before they were on the receiving end of severance packages – Civil Service World reports.

Some received a pay rise of up to 24% - or £18,000 – despite civil service pay rises being capped at one per cent.

Seven out of ten advisers, who were reappointed to work at Downing Street following Cameron’s election victory, received the pay rises.

The Prime Minister’s (PM) Deputy Political Director, Adam Atashzai (who was also awarded an MBE by Cameron), saw his pay go up from £58,200 to £72,000.
