Lloyds Banking Group CEO Antonio Horta-Osorio apologises to 75,000 workforce following affair allegations

The Chief Executive of Lloyds Banking Group has finally broken his silence after allegations surrounding his private life called into question his long-term commitment to his current role.

Antonio Horta-Osorio emailed 75,000 staff personally apologising for his actions, and expressed deep regret for any “damage done to the group's reputation”, Sky News reports.

The memo comes a fortnight after details of an alleged affair surfaced, between Horta-Osorio and Dr Wendy Piatt, Director General and Chief Executive of the Russell Group.

The memo, details of which were released to Sky News, read: “My personal life is obviously a private matter, as it is for anyone else.
