69% of British workers say that their workplace is a health hazard, according to a new report by personal injury specialists Hayward Baker.
The study, which examined the conditions of Britain’s offices, shops, factories, warehouses and building sites, found that 35% of workers have caught an illness from work and 39% have suffered from an injury at work - with two in ten having to be admitted to hospital.
One in five (21%) reported having an accident at work that wasn’t their fault, and 29% of all workplace accidents were considered ‘moderate’ injuries, including broken bones or fractures.
‘Severe’ accidents found amongst Britain’s workforce included dislocations (nine per cent) and six per cent had lost a limb or body part.
