Earlier this week Citizens Advice recorded a rise of just under 60% in the number of women seeking advice about maternity leave issues this year.
Employers need to be aware of maternity leave discrimination, and ensure that they support employees both during their leave and when they re-enter the workplace.
Returning to work following maternity leave often has new mothers feeling out of the loop, with the shift from nurturing a new-born child to catching up with work responsibilities, adapting to a new routine and mindset proving difficult.
Kathryn Mills-Webb, a Director at Babel PR, spoke to HR Grapevine about her experience. She says that going back into the workplace is challenging as mothers often feel guilty about leaving their children in someone else’s care.
