Chi Onwurah: I would take Corbyn to tribunal in any other job

The Shadow Minister for Culture and the Digital Economy has said she would take Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn to an employment tribunal if she was in “any other job”.

Chi Onwurah has slammed Corbyn for his treatment of black female MPs, after he gave Thangam Debbonaire, a fellow Labour MP, the Culture section of her portfolio without informing either woman – The Telegraph reports.

The Labour leader then reportedly took the role from Debbonaire, who was suffering from cancer at the time, when he realised he had made a mistake – and refused to meet with either MP for two months after.

In an article for the New Statesman, Onwurah said: "If this had been any of my previous employers in the public and private sectors Jeremy might well have found himself before an industrial tribunal for constructive dismissal, probably with racial discrimination thrown in – given that only five per cent of MPs are black and female picking on two is statistically interesting to say the least.
