Job ad slammed for referring to 'fat chicks'

Writing the perfect job ad is an art, but the person behind a sexist and possibly illegal ad making international headlines seems to have missed the basics.

An air conditioning installation business in Queensland, Australia, has come under fire after posting an ad on the website Gumtree, with positions for qualified installers and “young guys who don’t know s**t” – Smart Company reports.

The ad listed pay of $15-25 (£9-15) for trade assistants “depending on what you know,” and $10-15 (£6-9) for apprentices – well below what is supported by the Australian Manufacturing and Associated Industries and Occupations Award.

But arguably the ad’s worst attribute was in the description of duties, which included “crawling in roofs”, working through “the hottest days in summer” and getting “sunburnt, dehydrated, and disorientated”.
