Deliveroo will not force staff to take new pay terms after week-long strike

Following week-long protests, takeaway delivery firm Deliveroo has announced that workers will not be forced to sign new contracts that dictate differing pay terms.

The trial for the new pay structure, which was due to start today, will see the current hourly rate of £7 an hour – with a £1 delivery payment – drop to £3.75 for each delivery.

However, riders at the firm thought this may lead to lower earnings for them. They were initially told that they had to accept the new terms or no longer work for the company but now, after a week of strikes, that is no longer the case.

Additionally, those who wish to work in other areas where the trial isn’t taking place may do so.
