Morrisons has closed its head office and sent over 1,000 members of staff to work in-store in anticipation of high sales – The Yorkshire Post reports.
The order came from CEO David Potts who will, according to a Morrisons spokesman, be “somewhere in Yorkshire”. Directors, lawyers, IT specialists and buyers will all be asked to help in their stores across the country while the head office runs with minimal staffing levels.
The decision is expected to contribute an additional 8,000 staff to stores.
Clare Grainger, Morrisons’ People Director, said: “Customers will want to picnic and party in this very welcome spell of hot weather so we need our head office team to help serve them and support our in-store staff.”
